Taiji is a specialized form of internal exercise that brings about very robust health and effective martial art. At Victoria Chen Taiji Academy we teach Yang and Chen styles of Taiji.

We teach Taiji (Tai Chi) and Qi Gong (Chi Kung) in the city of Victoria, BC. Our head instructor and author, Master Gordon Muir, is a disciple of several Chinese masters of distinction. Beginning with the renowned Taiji master T. T. Liang in 1981 he has also studied with such well known figures as Zhang Xue-Xin of San Francisco, Chen Zhonghua, the International Standard Bearer for Chen Style Practical Method and has most recently worked with Grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang of Beijing.

Our main classes are held in Beacon Hill Park for the remainder of the summer but beginning September 8th we will be based in the Burnside/Gorge Community Centre at the corner of Jutland and Cecillia. We offer beginning taiji classes every Monday and Wednesday. Please call us (592-4463) for more information about which style of taiji may be the best for you.

Gordon studied directly with Master Liang from 1981 until 1988 and then spent several more years working with senior students. At the time of its writing Gordon had more than 20 years experience with Yang style Tai Chi. His understanding of the art is not based solely on work done on the long form but also on his intense practise with Cane, Broadsword, Sword and the two person exercises including Push Hands, Ta Lu and San Shou.
