  1. Rotate the body downward and to the right. Allow the left leg to sink to carry the weight of the body.  The sinking action raises the right arm until it lies across the chest. The rotating action brings the left arm forward level with the waist. You should end this beat facing Northeast with 80% weight on the left leg.
  2. Continue to turn and sink until you face east. The arms lie one on top of the other with each palm facing the other arms elbow. Your weight remains on the left leg.
  3. Sink to your center but put 60 % of your weight on to the right leg. Remain upright and sink your tailbone. Both knees should be well bent and you still face east.
  4. Put more weight on the right leg and turn the body 45 degrees to the left so you face Northeast. The left foot rises until you rest on its toes. You should have 90% weight on the right leg.
  5. Step the left leg directly forward and touch its heel down lightly. Do not shift weight and do not turn the waist yet. Loosen the left leg and sink 60% of your weight on to it. As the weight sinks your arms separate. The left arm rises to chest level. The right arm drops to waist level. Once your weight is securely on the left leg raise the toes of the right foot and perform a toe in until you face North.
  6. Sink into the posture with both legs well bent. The elbow of the right arm rises.

Advanced Instructions

As much as possible allow the weight changes and waist turns to move your arms. On beat 5 try to feel a connection between the weight sinking to the left leg and the arms separating.
