Chen Zhonghua teaching group classes in 2004

Victoria, BC, Canada is the site of a permanent annual taiji (tai chi) camp featuring Chen Style Master, Chen Zhonghua. As Master Chen's popularity grows so does the demand for him to do workshops and retreats in other parts of the world. So that his Canadian (and other) students can continue to have access to this teachings, Master Chen has allowed us to host this camp for him.

The location is Camp Thunderbird, a YMCA camp located approximately 30km from Victoria on the West Coast Highway. This is the furthest west you can get before hitting Japan. The camp is only a couple of kilometers from the ocean but is in fact in a rainforest environment and is centered on a beautiful little lake.

The lake is fed by a stream coming from wilderness and is very clean. The camp draws their drinking water from it. Its fine for swimming, kayaking and has plenty of fish for anyone that would like to catch their supper.

On a visit to the camp (February 16, 2005) I took some photos so you all can get an idea of the layout. Unusually for the west coast it was a chilly day and you can see a bit of frost in some of the pictures.

Here's a few photos showing this beautiful spot.
